Amaurea Press has recently published the latest novel from Lisa St Aubin de Terán. Inspired by some of the many paedophile conspiracies that have been uncovered in recent years, and the cases of abused children, The Hobby is a psychological crime thriller, ranging from the fan club of a 1940s child star, through Istanbul and war-torn Burma and Cairo, to 1980s Britain. DI John Custer and his assistant, Sergeant Jolly Campbell, seek to bring justice to the forgotten victims, while themselves going through their own quest for personal redemption.

A photographic celebration of Cuban Jazz

Amaurea has published a photographic celebration of Cuban jazz: Jazz Habana: Siete Miradas/Seven Views. Featuring the photography of seven photographers, who have documented Havana’s international jazz festival, Jazz Plaza, over the years.

Amaurea has brought out a new and expanded edition of Jean Stubbs’ classic study of Cuban tobacco history, Tobacco on the Periphery. This has now been joined by a collection of Jean’s subsequent writings on tobacco and cigars: Tobacco Counterpoints: Cuba and the Global Habano.

In 2025, Amaurea will be publishing an English translation of the novel by celebrated Cuban writer Anna Lidia Vega Serova, Anima Fatua, translated by Robin Munby. This will join the two books by Anna Lidia that we have already published.
